The Best Cider Mills in Metro Detroit (2026 Guide)
Few things say fall in Michigan like a warm cinnamon donut, a cold cup of fresh-pressed cider, and some hovering bees. Metro Detroit is lucky to have dozens of cider mills within an easy drive, from historic water-powered mills in Rochester Hills to full family farms out in Armada.
To make planning easier, I grouped this list by area: Oakland County, the Northville and Plymouth corridor, Macomb County, and a few mills worth the extra drive. Each listing includes the address, website and hours as posted for the 2026 season.
Hours often shrink in November, and some mills close by Thanksgiving, so check the mill’s website before you head out.

Tips for Your Cider Mill Trip
- Check payment before you go. Rochester Cider Mill and Dexter Cider Mill take cash or check only, while Long Family Orchard is completely cashless. Most others take cards.
- Go on a weekday if you can. October weekends draw long lines at the popular mills. Early mornings are the next best option.
- Watch the calendar. Several mills wind down in early November. Plymouth’s cider mill closes November 8, Franklin closes November 29, and Hy’s is done after November 1. Rochester Cider Mill stays open through New Year’s Eve.
- Leave the dog at home unless you’ve checked. Diehl’s and Blake’s Lyon Township welcome leashed dogs, but Blake’s Armada, Spicer’s and Three Cedars do not allow pets.
- Confirm hours the day of. Weather and late-season changes happen, so a quick look at the mill’s website or Facebook page saves a wasted drive.
Enjoy the Season
Whether your family tradition is Yates on a Saturday morning or a quiet weekday stop at Hy’s, these mills are a big part of what makes fall in Metro Detroit special.
If you’re out exploring Rochester, Northville, Armada or anywhere in between this fall and wondering what it would take to live there, I’m happy to help you figure that out. Reach out anytime.
